Stop rushing

on December 13, 2012

“Being in a hurry. Getting to the next thing without fully entering the thing in front of me. I cannot think of a single advantage I’ve ever gained from being in a hurry. But a thousand broken and missed things, tens of thousands, lie in the wake of all the rushing…. Through all that haste I thought I was making up time. It turns out I was throwing it away.” -Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts

In a world full of technology, we are more prone to multitask and be used to fast speeds. We lose patience, we want quick results. We cram too many activities into our lives.

We think we are productive when we go faster, but it only frazzles us, only smears things. We lose sight of the peace around us. We rush and forget about the quality. We miss things along the way.

Take time to breathe and slow down. We need peace, time for nothingness to restore ourselves and talk to God. When we feel impatient or are waiting in between things, make that waiting time a time to pray. Embrace quiet time and calmness. Cherish life and the time you make of it.
