“God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” –Ephesians 1:5
We are members of God’s family. He lovingly draws us into his own family, and through Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, shows us how we should strengthen and embrace our own small family. We are called to love and honor one another. To accept the wisdom of our parents and obey them, to take care of our children, to give our time, talents, and hearts to our family and give them a loving home.
What do you love about your family? What do you cherish about them? I love the warmth of the home, the memorable decorations, the cuddling time with the pets, the prayers we say before a meal, the intellectual discussions we have, the chores and activities we do to help one another, and the trust, the commitment, and loyalty we have for each other, among much more.
God is with us always. He is our ultimate father to look up to and pray to. And here on earth, we need to value what family teaches us, love our family all the more, and strive to be the family member God wants us to be.
Thank you God for welcoming us into your family. May we appreciate our little family and show our love for one another.
