Receive God's Warm Love Through Reflection

Peace be with you

on April 7, 2013

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” – John 20:19-23

Jesus tells us to have peace, that He is with us. We receive the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts as we live day to day. What a wonderful thing to know He is with us always and He gives us peace. Yet, how many of you are fearful, stressed, upset, and restless? What He is telling us to do is to realign ourselves with Him and to accept Him fully in our hearts.

My pastor today asked us what does peace mean? What is the definition? Calmness, restfulness, freedom from disturbance, quietness of mind. He also related peace to a crooked picture frame or lamp. When a picture or lamp is slanted more towards the right, for instance, then it is not level and doesn’t look right. So be if we don’t have peace ourselves, our hearts and minds aren’t level or right.

So to have peace, we need to correct ourselves to be right or level in God’s eyes. To have peace for ourselves is to completely trust and hope in God, to be level and right with him. He gives us rest. He guides us in our lives, and we shall not struggle against him.
