Receive God's Warm Love Through Reflection

Peace after arguments

on August 31, 2013

I never feel good after arguing with someone I love, and all I want is understanding and peace. Browsing on Beliefnet.com, I found an article, titled “How to Calm Down After An Argument”. This article has great points for having peace after an argument. I’ve listed some below:

  • Take a walk – calm down, reflect on the situation and your feelings. Then talk, laugh it off, and be content.
  • Beat it out – release your emotions by beating the couch or tearing a piece of paper. Shake it off.
  • Aromatherapy – smell calming scents such as lavendar and vanilla, to help you unwind and destress.
  • Shake your shoulders – release that tension you hold in your neck, back and shoulders. I’ll also add to bend your head down to your feet (yoga pose) to find calmness and have the blood go to your head. Breathe deep. I always feel calmer after doing this.
  • Respect different opinions – find understanding for the other person’s reasoning, have respect for them
  • Breathe it out – to breathe deep helps calm your body and mind

I’d also add to forgive. Forgive the other person and forgive yourself for the argument. Learn, grow, and accept.
