Sisters For Sunshine

Receive God's Warm Love Through Reflection

Elizabeth Wood, Oregon Pioneer

on September 8, 2013

I love learning about the history of our states, and this weekend I was able to go to the Oregon History Museum in Portland. The Oregon Trail was a historic event in which pioneers traveled through to come to Oregon for new opportunities in the West.

Elizabeth Wood was a women on the Oregon Trail in 1851, and she wrote down her experiences in her journal.

“I have a great desire to see Oregon. The beautiful scenery, the wild animals and Indians and natural curiosities in abundance.”

“People who do come must not be worried or frightened at trifles; they must put up with storm and cloud as well as calm and sunshine.”

I think today, we should be brave and curious just as she was. We should travel and seek new things, to see beautiful places. And we should stay strong and brave in our life experiences. We should have faith in God, not worrying about the storm and the clouds. We should accept the trifles and be strong. And we should also be thankful for the sunshine and the happy times.
