Receive God's Warm Love Through Reflection

Stop measuring, just enjoy the journey

on July 8, 2014

“Each of us will one day be judged by our standard of life-not by our standard of living; by our measure of giving-not by our measure of wealth; by our simple goodness-not by our seeming greatness.” – William Arthur Ward

“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.” -Winston Churchill

It’s easy to compare, to measure, to overthink, and to find faults. But, “it takes time to measure and track — that’s valuable time you could have spent doing or living. Measuring “creates a mindset that we must always improve, always measure, always manage things, always strive for better, better, better. What about learning to be happy with yourself?”

Praise yourself for YOU and for whatever you achieve today. Don’t think about wanting to get farther and don’t think about being more like someone else. You have to let go of basing your worth on measurements and comparisons.

Let life be. Enjoy the journey. Find joy in each day. Love yourself and where you are at this moment. “Do for the love of doing, for the love of others.”

If you created something, you’d want to finish your work, right? You’d get satisfaction out of completing your project, and you’d devote yourself to your work. God’s the same way. He loves all of you and is completely devoted to you, His special creation.  He will always be with you, constantly making improvements, shaping you to be more like Him. We should look forward to the growth and the positive changes happening within us, trust that God is transforming us, and let go of measuring or setting timelines.

Love yourself and all that you are and enjoy life today. God has plans for you, but you, yourself, don’t need to worry about that!

Move forward openly with curiosity and amusement with your passions rather than demands and hopes. Don’t expect it to go as planned but know that the unplanned may lead to the best later.
