Receive God's Warm Love Through Reflection

Weekly Hymn: Breathe on Me, Breath of God

on July 23, 2014

Written by Edwin Hatch, a professor at Trinity College in Quebec, the words in this song are simple yet meaningful. Taken from Genesis 2:7 and John 20:22, this song asks God for His Spirit to come live in us and give us renewed life.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Blend all my soul with Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.

“Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” – Genesis 2:7
“And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” – John 20:22
