Being Humble

on November 29, 2014

“The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” – Matthew 23:11-12

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name.” – Philippians 2:5-11

What does it mean to be humble?

Being humble means having or showing modesty, respect, meekness, patience, servitude, and gentleness. These are the qualities that Jesus showed when he came into our world and humbled himself by dying for us.

Who do you think of when you think of someone who was humble? When I think of humility, I think of Saints, heroes, priests and pastors, and leaders that had God’s love and lived out their lives in truth and faith.
