Weekly Song: The Heart of Worship

on March 10, 2015

I had heard of this song, The Heart of Worship, written by Matt Redman, but I never really noticed the meaning of the lyrics until my pastor told a background history of the lyrics to this song.

The Heart of Worship tells us that worship is for God, praising Him and focusing on Him. It’s not about fame, good music, good speeches, hanging out with friends, or entertainment. These are not required for worship.

Worship is all about Him! It’s about coming together to learn about God, to pray to Him, and to follow His ways.

When the music fades and all is stripped away
and I simply come.
Longing just to bring something that’s of worth
that will bless Your heart.I’ll bring You more than a song, for a song in itself
is not what You have required.
You search much deeper within, through the way things appear,
You’re looking into my heart.

Chorus:

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
and it’s all about You, it’s all about You, Jesus.
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
when it’s all about You, it’s all about You, Jesus.King of endless worth, no one could express
how much you deserve.
Though I’m weak and poor, all I have is Yours,
every single breath!

I’ll bring You more than a song, for a song in itself
is not what You have required.
You search much deeper within, through the way things appear,
You’re looking into my heart.

Chorus
