Did you know you’re a teacher?

The dictionary says this about teaching:

“Teach, instruct, tutor, train, educate share the meaning of imparting information, understanding, or skill.

Teach is the broadest and most general of these terms and can refer to almost any practice that causes others to develop skill or knowledge…Instruct almost always implies a systematic, structured method of teaching…Tutor refers to the giving of usually private instruction or coaching in a particular subject or skillTrain lays stress on the development of desired behaviors through practice, discipline, or the use of rewards or punishments…Educate, with a root sense of “to lead forth from,” refers to the imparting of a specific body of knowledge, especially one that equips a person to practice a profession...”

In all stages of life, we are constantly learning and growing from those teachers around us…teachers shape us to be better people and teach us how to live in the world.

However, throughout life, we ourselves are also teaching others.  As a child, we teach our peers and friends how to be kind, how to be good friends, how to be good students, how to be good daughters/sons. While we are in school, our interactions with other peers makes a difference. When we become an adult and work, we need to set good behaviors as coworkers and employees. We teach others how to work hard and be kind. And when we marry and have children, we’re teaching our family to love and be good citizens and parents.

We teach in different ways through all the roles we play in life. We are all students AND teachers, learning and sharing our experiences with others.

Who you are and how you interact with people is sending a message. Each of us has an impact on one another, even when we don’t realize it. We all influence one another.

So, how can we be good teachers? Because even when we don’t know that we’re teaching, we are…

God is our ultimate teacher. His teachings and words should be praised and valued. No matter what, following God’s way will make you better teachers in your every day life.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” -Psalm 32:8

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…” -2 Timothy 3:16

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” -James 1:5

“…set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” -1 Timothy 4:12

“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned…” -Titus 2:7-8

Strive to be more like Christ, like God in all you do. Teach God’s word, share His love, follow His laws. Look to God for wisdom and remember to reach out to others, because you never know what kind of help, advice, growth, and support they need. Make sure you’re sending off a good message, making Godly decisions, and being a good Christian, because we’re teaching others when we least expect it!

You are making a difference. REMEMBER You are a teacher to those around you.
