Receive God's Warm Love Through Reflection

A little piece of Heaven

on May 17, 2015

Sunday was the solemnity of the ascension of the Lord…which means Jesus went to Heaven.

Why is this important? Why would Jesus leave the disciples?

Jesus was touching people’s lives in Jerusalem and nearby areas, but he was restricted. Going to Heaven would allow Jesus to do His work over ALL the earth.

As Christians, we look forward to the day when we can join Him in Heaven. However, while we are living for God on earth, we have work to do! We are Jesus’ hands and feet. He is with us, empowering us from Heaven to do His work here below. We are to bring a little piece of Heaven with us wherever we go.

“…the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them,
was taken up into heaven
and took his seat at the right hand of God.
But they went forth and preached everywhere,
while the Lord worked with them
and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.” -Mark 16:19-20

“Go and teach all nations, says the Lord;
I am with you always, until the end of the world.” -Matthew 28:19-20

God is with us always, working in us to spread the faith.

In Acts 1:9-11, God reminds us that we shouldn’t just dwell on Heaven above. We need to look upon the earth and find ways to spread God’s love down among the people. God is using each of us in unique ways to do His work and we need to not stand idle. Remember to carry a little piece of Heaven with you!

“…as they were looking on,
he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight.
While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going,
suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them.
They said, “Men of Galilee,
why are you standing there looking at the sky?”

May we not just stand in awe of God and Jesus’ ascension into Heaven. May His ascension remind us that He sits above the earth so that He may reach out to all of us.

Just remember to bring a little piece of Heaven everywhere you go, to share a little piece of Heaven with others.

Jesus is with us and fills us with His love. No matter what, He’s watching over us from above.

“The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.” -Ephesians 4:10
