God calls us to be in harmony with one another. In light of the recent school shootings in Roseburg, OR, it seems that peace and harmony are distant. But with tragedy like this, we should ask ourselves, what can we do to bring more peace? And we should act on it.
God tells us in Colossians 3:12-17, that we should show “compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience” to everyone, that we should be “together in perfect unity”, and that no matter what we do, we should “do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus”. When there is suffering in the world, reach out to those people and communities, and show Jesus’ love through your actions. Strive for peace, with forgiveness and compassion. If more Christians would act in peace, I think we would have less pain.
What are you doing to bring more harmony and peace into your community? Into your household?
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:12-17
