For 40 days, my husband and I are going to focus on increasing our self-confidence. With God’s support, we want to be stronger, to accept our abilities and capabilities, and to go about our day in confidence.
Prayer For Self Confidence
Lord, true source of light and wisdom
Let a ray of Your brilliance
Penetrate my understanding
Grant me a retentive memory
And the ability to grasp things
Correctly and completely.
Let me be convincing in my explanations
Steadfast and unwavering in my presentations
Give me Your confidence
To trust my God-given capabilities.
Help me with each task at hand
Guide me through its completion.
“Thus we may say with confidence: The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” – Hebrews 13:6
Yesterday we celebrated at church the baptism of Christ. Baptism is the ritual of becoming cleansed of sin and renewed in Christ. For me it means that I am blessed with Christ’s presence and I am marked to follow his ways.
Here’s a prayer for baptism, written by M.S.Lowndes, and may you be reflect on the meaning that baptism has for you.
You’re taking this step of faith.
In obedience to the Lord,
To be baptized in His precious name,
And heed the Master’s call,
To rise up with faith in God.
And go where He may lead,
To share God’s love to everyone,
And touch them in their need,
May God pour out His blessings.
Upon your life today,
So you may walk in His abundance,
As you commit to Him your way,
Keep on trusting in the Lord.
No matter what you face,
And keep your eyes on Jesus Christ,
And live in His sweet grace.
In this Advent season, may you focus on Christ and His love in your life. This page of Advent Prayers are great to reflect on each day. Here are two.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in unity,
that our praise and worship
might echo in these walls
and also through our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in mission,
that the hope within
might be the song we sing,
and the melody of our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in service,
that the path we follow
might lead us from a stable
to a glimpse of eternity. Amen.
You challenge us this Advent time
This season of preparation
To put aside our pride
And understand our need
Less of self
More of you
Preparation for our journey
To the stable and beyond
Purify our hearts
Sanctify our lives
That we might serve you
Faithfully this day and all days. Amen.
Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you have a special and blessed day with loved ones. We shared this beautiful prayer last Thanksgiving:
Prayer of Thanksgiving by Vienna Cobb Anderson
God of all blessings, source of all life, giver of all grace:
We thank you for the gift of life:
for the breath that sustains life,
for the food of this earth that nurtures life,
for the love of family and friends without which there would be no life.
We thank you for the mystery of creation:
for the beauty that the eye can see,
for the joy that the ear may hear,
for the unknown that we cannot behold filling the universe with wonder,
for the expanse of space that draws us beyond the definitions of our selves.
We thank you for setting us in communities:
for families who nurture our becoming,
for friends who love us by choice,
for companions at work, who share our burdens and daily tasks,
for strangers who welcome us into their midst,
for people from other lands who call us to grow in understanding,
for children who lighten our moments with delight,
for the unborn, who offer us hope for the future.
We thank you for this day:
for life and one more day to love,
for opportunity and one more day to work for justice and peace,
for neighbors and one more person to love and by whom be loved,
for your grace and one more experience of your presence,
for your promise: to be with us, to be our God, and to give salvation.
For these, and all blessings,
we give you thanks, eternal, loving God,
through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
Today is the funeral for a church member that passed away last week, so I thought to share a prayer for the deceased.
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
This post comes from August 28th, and I wanted to share it again because my husband and I are traveling today to visit family.
Both of us feel uncomfortable with flying and traveling, so I thought to share a prayer for travelers.
God, you have given us feet to move, and a mind to imagine new things and places and people. You have made us to travel and explore your wonderful world. Thank you for this gift.
Still, this world over which we move is wrought with dangers and threats. When we travel, we are vulnerable. Please protect our steps. Protect us on the road, and in the air. Send an angel of protection to accompany us. Shield us from evil and the Evil One who would use this opportunity to bring destruction. Bring us safely there and back home again.
And while we’re gone, protect those we leave behind. Keep the peace and secure the boundaries of our home. Assign an angel of protection to stand guard over our property and our loved ones, our children, and our friends and family.
Keep us healthy and guard us from sickness, injury, accident and violence. Give wisdom to those flying the airplane and driving the vehicles, and keep the machinery working properly. Moderate the weather on our travels.
And even now, begin to prepare us and the places we will visit, so that we can meet you there. In fact, Lord, come with us. Join us on this journey and be our companion and guide and protector and provider. In Jesus we pray, Amen.
Tomorrow is Halloween, and I always think of the children at night, hoping that they are safe and that they just have a good time. This prayer is to ask God for their safety.
These days it seems our lives are lacking energy. Krista is a new mom adjusting to nursing her daughter frequently in the night. My husband is having insomnia and having trouble sleeping. And I’m in my first trimester and feeling fatigue constantly.
This prayer is for energy and strength for the exhausted. May you feel rested in God’s care.
Thank You for another day! Thank You for my life and the purpose You have given me. I come before You tired and ask for a refreshed spirit. I am exhausted and I need Your strength to carry me. Fill me with joy, so that no matter how tired I am, I rejoice because You are good and Your love endures forever. I pray for others who are feeling tired or empty. Help us not to complain amidst our weakness. Restore our minds so that we can still function properly. Give our bodies the energy needed to get through each day. We claim healing in Jesus’ name! Please also help us to manage our time so that we will get the rest we need. Help us to prune things that are hard to let go of that suck the energy from us. Lord, we lay our lives down at Your throne and praise You in Jesus’ name AMEN!
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
Krista and her husband William have been busy with their newborn girl and haven’t received much rest. I have been needing more rest since being pregnant, so we both value the importance of rest and renewal. Seek God in your rest today.
Dear Lord Jesus, as I rest in the comfort of your love, I ask to experience your gentle embrace as you tenderly wrap your loving arms around me. I trust your compassionate care will bring peace to my mind, serenity to my heart and renewal to my spirit.
In your loving embrace, I ask that you grant me a peaceful night’s rest. Please purify my dreams, cleanse my subconscious and wash my thoughts with the purity of your infinite love. Please minister to my heart, mind, body, soul and spirit as I rest in your compassionate care tonight.
Please send forth your protective angels to stand guard over me as I sleep. May your angelic army destroy all curses, hindrances and demonic influences that have been sent against my ability to experience a peaceful night’s rest. I ask that your heavenly host protect me as I stay awake and watch over me as I sleep, that awake I may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, rest in his peace. Amen.
Here’s a prayer for new beginnings!
For New Beginnings
Thank You Lord that You are with us to lead and to guide us throughout our earthly walk. Thank You that You open up doors of opportunity for us, when other doors slam shut – or at times when we feel that we have reached a dead end in our lives. Thank You for giving me this opportunity a this new beginning – and I pray that You would be with me as I seek to adjust to my new situation and surroundings.
I pray Lord, that this is not only a new beginning but a fresh start where You become a central and increasingly important part of all I do, knowing that in and of myself I can do nothing, but that I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. Give me the courage to step out into the unknown, holding tightly to Your hand, knowing that You have scheduled every step of my life and have promised to guide my every step, as I look to Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
Into Your hand I place this new beginning and thank You that in Your strength this may be a fresh start that begins and continues with You, in Jesus name I pray,
Yesterday in Roseburg, OR there was a tragic shooting at the community college. Why is it that the United States tops the list for shootings? … I think we need stricter gun control and more community support/education.
Today I offer a prayer for those victims of the shooting and for their family, friends, and for the community.
(This is adapted from a prayer for the victims of the Charleston, NC shooting in June)
LORD, we come to You on behalf of the victims of the Umpqua Community College shooting. We pray for the victims, their family and friends, and the community of Roseburg, Oregon, that they find comfort in Your loving arms in the midst of such tragic loss. May Your grace and peace strengthen each one in the days and weeks ahead. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen
Our lives are blessed with babies – our cousin recently gave birth to a baby girl, and Krista is due in less than three weeks for her baby girl. Here is a prayer for all babies, that they may be blessed with good health, faith, and happiness.
Prayer for all babies
How we praise and thank You for the precious little lives of all new-born babies, little toddlers and young children, knowing that each one is special to You and was known in Your heart, even before conception. Thank You that You have scheduled every day of each little life, and we praise and thank You for the special plans and purposes You have for every single new-born child – for all babies and infants.
We pray Your loving protection over all babies and their families, that they may be healthy and happy. We pray that many may be brought up to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. Give parents and grandparents and all those that are in any way connected with young babies the wisdom and grace to care for them in a loving and secure environment.
Guard and protect, guide and provide for each innocent little baby and protect their the hearts and minds from a society that has grown far from the God Who created them and sent His Son to die – so that they might live – this we ask in Jesus name,
